RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CLIENT
During the 13th and the 14th week (from the 12th of June to the 25th of June) the supervisor has introduced me to one of the most important aspects of architecture: the relationship between the architect and the client.
- The clients
The clients are the agents of an architecture office. It is important to remember that architects provide services, not products. Those services are focused on meeting the expressed needs of a clients.
- The relationship
It is important to analyses the relationships between architects and clients.
The most important aspects of this relationship is the communication. A lot of communication take place between clients and architects regarding the design, specifications, contract, construction, material specifications, legal issues and a lot of other topic.
It is necessary to have effective communication from both sides to avoid misunderstanding or conflict in the future.
- The importance of listening.
The most common complain of clients is that their architects doesn’t listen to them and tries to impose his/her ideas. Listening is one of the most important skills of an architect. Together with the client, the architects can do a good project. If the architects consider the clients’ opinions, the clients should also listen and consider the architects’ opinions. With this prerequisite, the project can reach a good quality.
