My name is Karol, and I’m a young entrepreneur from Poland. I studied Pedagogy, and I’m a trained teacher and cultural educator. After finishing my studies, I spent several years abroad – in Australia, Canada, and Spain – where I studied languages, explored new cultures, and discovered my passion for communication and teaching. In the future, I want to open my own language school and create study materials for English and Spanish learners. I truly enjoy working with people, sharing knowledge, and helping others overcome the fear that often blocks them from speaking a foreign language.

I had known about the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program for quite a while. I didn’t know anyone who had taken part in it, but I saw it as an opportunity to understand how a successful business works from inside. This is exactly what I need to grow. I wanted to learn from someone who had already built a successful language school, to see their methods, marketing tools, and approach to clients before starting my own venture. I knew that while I had skills and knowledge to offer, turning them into a business required entrepreneurial abilities.

Arriving in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria was both exciting and a bit stressful. Before starting the exchange, there are many formalities to deal with: signing contract, organizing travel, finding accommodation, arranging insurance, and registering with local authorities. Luckily, the Intermediate Organisation offered great support: they organized pre-departure training, helped me with the exchange plan, and guided me through each step.

Now, after my first weeks, I can confidently say that the EYE program is not only a professional experience but also a deeply personal one that helps you grow in both areas. During the first month, my main goal was to understand the mission and methods of HE’s School. I participated in classes, helped organize events such as language exchanges, and led a speaking club. I also created social media content, analyzed marketing strategies, and learned new tools for designing promotional materials. HE has provided me with valuable insights into many aspects of running a school. We meet regularly for mentoring sessions and talk about business management, marketing, and client relations. Additionally, I’m attending Spanish classes at the school, which perfectly complements my learning journey.

This experience is changing the way I see what it really means to be an entrepreneur — not just a person who manages a business, but someone who’s always learning, adapting, building connections, and creating a sense of community. It’s also showing me how much effort and heart go into bringing your own project to life.
