We started the month of april with the Open Doors; Interesting event and many many people. It is very nice to see how the artists on that small island cooperate with harmony. This event is also important for the visibility of each workshop because a lot of people participate to the visits ; which means new costumers and more business.
Sabine and I, are working now on a new project; this time our expectations are a bit higher. After the Wish tree, which has been a success in terms of impact on the local community but also on the people who took part on it giving us all their wishes, now we are working on an installation about poetry. We are very excited about this project for many reasons, but for the hope, I can’t talk about it yet.
In the same time, we are preparing a new collection of jewels (which I have already mentioned with the neil)
The idea began when I have sandcasted the neils; now the creation continues with the research of daily life objects.
We have, for the selection, three critters: found object, sandcast-able and beautiful. Our goal is to valorize those unexpected objects and make them precious and beautiful.
This months I am going to focus on the Enamel, mostly on a technic call Plique-à-jour.

The vitreous enamel, a smooth, durable coating made of melted and fused glass powder.
Plique-à-jour (French for “letting in daylight”) is a vitreous enamelling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but with no backing in the final product, so light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel.
It is magical how the transformation of that glass powder after just few seconds in 800 degrees.
It is not easy to start new projects when the planning is already busy, but Sabine is very good in managing the time and the different activities.
During this month, we have been making jewels orders from customers for many traditional event, like baptize or confirmation.
We also started the creation of jewels’ sculpture (sculpture to hang the jewels) made with driftwood, copper or silver and enamel.
In the same kind, some sculpture of leaves or glass from the sea.
It has been a technical month, I am really enjoying the project. I am meeting fantastic people and with Sabine we work perfectly well together; she is always full of ideas and always ready to realize mine.
I live with a danish family near by the workshop: such a nice people! They are very funny and musical; always ready to teach, learn or share something.
Two weeks ago we also have had a workshop with 9 people. I ve loved it ! I discovered that I like very much to teach about this job to the other people.
Teach something or just help or just give an advice; it has been very nice ! And those workshop are open to everyone, even people who never touch a saw can come. On two days, the people come with their own idea, pictures from Internet, and we help them to realize it. And it is possible ! 🙂
I am thinking of course to bring back with me this idea.
