I’m Souakina, a 26-year-old entrepreneur inspired by my studies and experiences to create meaningful change. With a BA in Oriental Languages from the University of Venice and a double MA in International Cooperation and Development focusing on migration, I developed a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within migrant communities. After working in both Italy and France, I thought about the possibility to start my own association, Migr’AZIONE, aimed at empowering migrants through entrepreneurship. However, launching the project was difficult, so I sought advice from friends and learned about the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) program. EYE seemed like the perfect fit, offering mentorship, networking, and practical tools to bring my vision to life. Migr’AZIONE is more than a project; it’s a platform that connects migrants with entrepreneurial opportunities, fostering social cohesion and economic growth in Italy’s northeast.

During my EYE stay, I was involved in a variety of activities that enriched both my experience and my business development. I took charge of the logistical aspects of several workshops, ensuring everything ran smoothly, while also actively participating in and animating some of the sessions myself. I gained hands-on experience in project management, assisting with day-to-day tasks and collaborating in monthly meetings with international partners. Additionally, I contributed to the creation of products for different projects and participated in both local and international meetings, which helped me expand my network and learn from diverse perspectives. I was also involved in the development of local initiatives, working closely with my Host to support the growth and impact of these projects. My relationship with my Host was highly collaborative and supportive, offering me valuable mentorship and insights into the challenges and rewards of running an entrepreneurial venture.

Through my EYE experience, I gained numerous benefits that have significantly shaped my entrepreneurial journey. I developed essential skills in project management, workshop facilitation, and international collaboration, which have enhanced my confidence in running Migr’AZIONE. I built a network of valuable contacts, both locally and internationally (Italy especially), opening future prospects for collaboration and partnerships. My involvement in meetings with international partners and participation in the creation of project products sharpened my ability to work across different cultural and organizational contexts. Additionally, the mentorship provided by my Host has been invaluable in refining my business idea and strategic direction. Looking ahead, I foresee ongoing cooperation with many of the partners I worked with during my stay, further strengthening the impact of my association and enabling Migr’AZIONE to thrive in empowering migrant entrepreneurs in Italy.
