I am 26 years old and have a degree in foreign languages(English and Spanish). I was looking for an enrichment and interesting experience that could be useful for my working career, and when I discovered EYE, I thought it was the right programme for me.
I have always been interested in working in the educational field, so I decided to participate in EYE when I found “Fundación Red Deporte y Cooperación”, an NGO based in Madrid.
Their activities looked interesting from the beginning, and I felt it was the right environment to continue growing and learning about how to work with young people.
Red Deporte is an NGO that works in both the international cooperation sector and locally in the neighbourhood where it is based (Barrio del Pilar). In general, I had been in charge of the activities related to the Youth Programme and different European Projects (Erasmus +). I had been organizing the activities for the kids of their Club Deportivo for the whole months and I also gave an English class once per week. My Host has been helpful to me since day one, and I also have the freedom to propose new activities and develop my projects.
Working 6 months in an ONG allowed me to get in touch with a sector that I didn’t know well before and showed me an unconventional way of doing business. Honestly, I liked this sector, and the fact that there are some possibilities to continue my relationship with my HE after the EYE looks interesting to me. I think there are still things to learn before starting my own business or organization. Anyway, I consider this experience very enriching from a personal and working standpoint.
I learnt about the importance and the inifinitive power of collaboration in business.
