My name is Liz van Oene (20), I am an interdisciplinary designer. I fell in love with the material clay during a previous internship at a ceramic studio. The experience sparked my ambition to start my own business in this field. I decided to join the EYE (Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs) program mainly because of curiosity and the desire to expand my knowledge. My host, Barsega Studio Gallery, was the perfect match. Their approach to ceramics is unique and captivating as they work with non-toxic materials and no bisque fire. By participating in EYE, I aimed to gain valuable insight into running a creative businesses, particularly from the perspective of entrepreneurship.

During my stay, I actively contributed to the studio’s marketing offers, particularly in developing social media strategies to enhance brand awareness. Besides that I also had the opportunity to dive deeper into the process of running a ceramic studio and honing my skills in ceramics. From day one, I felt warmly welcomed by the team and quickly developed a strong connecting with both the owner and my colleagues.

hrough this collaborating I have gained a realistic perspective on starting my own studio and understand I still have a long way to go, with which I am totally okay with. Moving forward, I plan to focus on refining my skills and business plan, gradually working toward my dream of opening my own studio.

As for my connection with Barsega Studio Gallery, our collaboration does not end here–I will continue assisting them with their social media while further developing my expertise. This experience has given me not only valuable knowledge but also a support system that will guide me on my entrepreneurial path.

This collaboration has given my dreams of starting my own studio a wonderful realistic perspective.
