My name is Ilaria and I am a visual artist and performer. I have always dreamed of opening a Cultural Center, a space of inclusion and exchange around artistic practices, in my hometown. So I directed my research towards a project that could help me gain experience in the sector to give and learn information on how to create and manage a similar project.
And so I came across this Erasmus call that was very useful to me.
I spent these six beautiful months working in Barcelona, for my host “Nunart”, a dance school, a creation space hosting various formats of artistic residences and a space for events related to the world of dance and performance learning and sharing a lot.
The greatest advantage of this exchange project was to be able to know a new country, a new culture and a different way of managing cultural projects and thinking about art. I was also happily surprised by the management of economic resources for cultural and artistic projects in this region.
My host and I have created a beautiful bond and we intend to continue collaborating in the future.
I almost always worked in the office collaborating with my colleagues on various tasks and areas. The project is also supported by collaborations with external entities and therefore I was able to follow the process of creating and developing new activities, that of managing new contacts, and that which concerns the more administrative and managerial part of the Center, including the management of the savings. However, I focused on giving my contribution given my experience in the social media managing sector and the visual part of the center.
There could be future prospects of collaboration with my host who in any case could remain available to help me build my project.
I learned new skills in the field of finance management, definition of roles in a team, a new way of managing human relationships even within the team. I learned to propose a project and understand how to network, I learned possible ways to start new activities and collaborations with external entities.
Always believe in your dream and build through starting from small steps with trust and faith, and always through sharing and collaboration.
