I am an artist working in the cultural field in Amsterdam, my business idea is to open a cultural place devoted to residencies and art in the heart of the city. My host is a small cooperative in South Tyrol, dealing with the cultural sector, organising artistic residencies and receiving art and cultural commissions. I got to know EYE from a friend who was in exchange in NL, and right away thought it fits my status. The expected benefits were to receive an overview of how such initiatives and studios works within the cultural sector of a specific location.
During my stay I was taking care of the social platform, helping with the graphic design, I worked as production assistant for event and was taking care of the mediations between the studio and the third parties. With the host I nurtured a friendly relationship, where we could both show informally our support on work ethics and such. I was often at the studio and mostly working from remote.
Thanks to this opportunity I have achieved a multiple series of benefits. First of all I had the opportunity to work in my native language which will help me to reach a wider audience. I made plenty of contacts in the northern regions of Italy, for support and eventually connections to bring and include in my programme. Further more I deepen my entrepreneurial skills thanks to the host sharing their story and day to day struggles and urgencies.
I enjoyed it very much and highly suggested this opportunity with my fellow colleagues.
