I discovered this program through a friend who knew my interest for regenerative agriculture as well as my business ideas. The business I presented is composed of different services, that would require to be developed at the same time. The consultancy and environmental footprinting services can be structured based on the experience that I already had plus everything I have been learning during this experience. I engaged with this hopi.g to learn more about the local agricultural context, the characteristics of well running businesses as well as the environmental issues of the area.
My daily tasks involved a balanced mix of desk research, farm visits, and collaborative discussions with the HE and his team. In addition to assisting the HE with researching funding opportunities, this effort also contributed significantly to shaping my own business plan for the future. Furthermore, I developed a detailed plan for the HE, outlining regenerative practices that can be implemented in local olive plantations, providing a foundation for experimentation in the region. This plan is supported by extensive literature, highlighting the environmental benefits expected from adopting these practices.
Through a combination of field visits and desk research, I’ve gained valuable insights into regenerative agricultural practices. I had the opportunity to observe various regional projects that are transitioning to more sustainable farming methods, focusing on tree species selection and landscape design. Additionally, I’ve delved into the complexities of the market, identifying opportunities for regenerative farms in Italy and Europe, particularly in terms of public exposure, networking, and funding access. I’ve dedicated substantial time to understanding the funding landscape, including the challenges related to sustainability credits, carbon credits, certification schemes, and navigating regional and national funding opportunities. This knowledge positions me well to collect and analyze primary data from farms in the near future, further enhancing my understanding and contribution to the regenerative agriculture sector.
The experience was incredibly positive, as it provided a valuable blend of hands-on learning, collaboration, and practical application. Not only did I gain deep insights into regenerative practices and funding strategies, but I also contributed to meaningful projects.
