I am Caterina and I got a master degree in foreign languages and cultures. My business project focused on translation, with a strong interest in intercultural activities. The host company manages and organizes Erasmus projects, and my host is Fabrizio, entrepreneur who has been living in Berling for 10 years and manager of Globtrain, the company with which I did my EYE experience. Globtrain is a company that deals with organisation and relisation of erasmus projects which collaborates with multicultural partners and which I found alligned with my intercultural business immediately. I discovered EYE through word of mouth and decided to participate to challenge myself with an intercultural experience abroad, applying what I have learned at university. I expected to develop professionally, enhance my language skills, and gain hands-on experience in international project management, contributing with my translation skills.
During my EYE stay, I have been involved in researching new business partners, suppliers, and potential collaborating companies for future projects. I also worked on translating documents related to Erasmus projects, ensuring they were clear and accessible to international audiences. My host, Fabrizio, has been very supportive, providing guidance and constructive feedback on my work. Our relationship has been collaborative, with Fabrizio encouraging my initiative and offering valuable insights into business development and project management. This experience has allowed me to enhance my professional skills and gain a deeper understanding of the international cultural project landscape.
During my EYE stay, I have significantly improved my language and translation skills, as well as my communication and task management abilities. The business research activities allowed me to connect with various companies in Berlin, many of which are culturally focused and could become potential partners for my future business, which is centered around intercultural exchange. These new contacts and experiences have broadened my professional network and opened up exciting prospects for future collaboration in the field of translating intercultural projects.
This experience has been invaluable in developing my professional skills, especially in language, translation, and cross-cultural communication. I am even more convinced that the field of translation is a fundamental basis for any project that calls itself intercultural.
