My Name is Beatrice and I’m an aspiring entrepreneur passionate about sustainability, with a background in environmental science and international cooperation. Quinta Alma, is an off-grid eco-retreat in Portugal that embodies environmental responsibility and permaculture principles. My business idea is to create a similar retreat center focused on sustainable living and community building. I discovered the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program through the stories of other NE and saw it as a unique opportunity to gain practical experience. I decided to participate to bridge the gap between theory and practice, learning directly from an established eco-business. I expect to gain insights into sustainable operations, build a network, and acquire the skills and confidence to launch my own eco-friendly retreat.
During my EYE stay at Quinta Alma, I actively participated in various activities, including organic gardening, creation of eco-friendly construction, and permaculture design. I assisted in the daily operations of the retreat, from managing guest services to support the organization of different retreats. I also contributed to marketing efforts by creating content that highlights Quinta Alma’s sustainable practices. My relationship with my host was collaborative and mentorship-driven. I received hands-on guidance from the team, who shared their expertise in running an eco-business. This experience has been invaluable in shaping my understanding of sustainable entrepreneurship.
My host and I explored future collaborations, such as creating new eco-retreats and offering sustainable living workshops. This experience has equipped me with practical skills, a strong network, and the confidence to launch my own sustainable business, with the possibility of continued partnership with Quinta Alma.
