I’m a young cultural operator and curator working to launch AHA – Creative Lab, a curatorial collective focused on empowering young artists through community-based exhibitions and projects. My host, Jo Vavra of LIOS Labs, a creative agency known for innovative cultural experiences, was the perfect mentor to refine AHA’s vision and structure. I discovered EYE through a friend who recommended it as a way to gain practical insights.
Through this exchange, I gained invaluable experience in strategic planning, community engagement, and business development. Jo’s mentorship was transformative, helping me shape AHA not only as a creative endeavor but as a sustainable, mission-driven collective. With her support, I now have a clear roadmap for launching AHA, including potential collaborations with LIOS Labs to amplify our impact.
During my EYE stay in Berlin, I actively contributed to the planning and production of LIOS Labs’ annual events, including Desert Transformation Lab and Free Radicals artist residencies. My role involved managing event logistics, providing direct support to artists, and collaborating with the team to develop engaging, impactful programs. This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of curatorial work and strengthened my project management skills.

Working alongside Jo Vavra was inspiring; her dedication and professionalism embody exactly the kind of entrepreneur I aspire to be. Jo’s commitment to social and cultural causes is remarkable, and her mentorship has been invaluable. Our relationship has evolved into a genuine professional bond built on shared values and mutual respect, with Jo’s insights significantly influencing how I approach AHA. I couldn’t have asked for a better mentor, and I look forward to staying connected and hopefully collaborating in the future.
Through Jo, I gained invaluable experience in curating and event management, strengthening my skills in organizing and supporting large-scale programs like artist residencies and community events. The exposure to LIOS Labs’ processes helped me build a solid foundation for launching AHA – Creative Lab with a clear strategy for community engagement and sustainable growth.
I also established meaningful connections with numerous artists and creatives, many of whom I hope to collaborate with in the future. Additionally, I had the opportunity to network with various foundations and organizations interested in supporting cultural projects, opening up promising avenues for potential funding. These connections and experiences have positioned AHA for impactful future projects, equipping me with the resources, insights, and network essential for a successful launch.
My EYE experience was transformative, giving me practical skills, invaluable mentorship, and a network of inspiring creatives and potential collaborators. Jo’s guidance has truly shaped AHA’s vision, turning a dream into a structured project ready to make a meaningful cultural impact.
