My fourth and last month of the EYE exchange has just come to an end. I don’t even know where to start. What an awesome time it was!

Living in Malta, collaborating with a fully remote team and clients from all around the world… The past four months were truly filled to the brim with experiences and opportunities I will be forever grateful for.

I was thinking about what would be best to share in this last story.

Looking back to the time when I was looking for resources and reviews of the EYE programme to make sure I’m making the best decision, I would like this post to be helpful to anyone in the situation.

To help you make a decision about whether to join the EYE or not, I have a few thoughts to reflect on, helpful in times when you are about to make a big step ahead in your life.

Back in September 2019 I quit my job, wanting to start my own business and have more control over my life and career path.

It was difficult because I didn’t have much skills or confidence that could help me find my own projects and I felt a bit at loss with this sudden jump into the unknown.

After trying to study and figure out the best path for me, I learnt about the EYE programme.

Looking at where I am now, having finalised a successful exchange with a Host in sunny Malta at the end of 2021, I can confidently say that taking part in the EYE programme was one of the best decisions I made in the past 2-3 years.

If you feel like you can do more, if you want to explore new business avenues and learn new things, and most importantly – do it as an Entrepreneur, reflect on this advice:

  1. If you’re scared of making a big step ahead, thank your fear for showing up and do it anyway. If it’s scary, it means you can grow and learn, so anytime you have the chance to challenge yourself, do it even if you’d rather procrastinate.
  1. Don’t be scared of sharing your craziest ideas, speak up even if you think that what you have to say is silly, be proactive and show that you care to change the world. This way people will be able to feel your spirit and will be inspired to take on many challenges with you.
  1. Pick a path early on, even if it feel scary to do so. Many people are scared to embark on a journey down a particular business idea, because they think that once they choose, they’re stuck on this path forever. You’re not marrying into this path or decision and you can change it whenever you feel like it doesn’t work for you anymore. The key to Entrepreneurship is to not be scared to experiment!

Now, looking back at what I wanted to achieve and where I’m at now, I’m confident in saying that this EYE opportunity was literally life changing. It has opened so many doors and possibilities, it has taught me so much and let me experience such a variety of aspects in life and business, I would do it all over again if I could.

This is a great opportunity for you to learn, explore, experience, network, challenge yourself and grow in the best way possible.

We live in very uncertain times now, and I can tell you, from my own recent experience, how much more confident I feel now to build a business in a world post-pandemic.

To the whole EYE team and the Host Entrepreneur, thank you for making this wonderful opportunity possible.

I will never forget this experience!

Agnes
