Reflecting on the first half of my stay abroad, I can honestly say that the experience has been very positive so far. Moving from Romania to work in a different environment was definitely a big step, but it has helped me grow both personally and professionally. I’ve had the chance to meet new people, learn about a different work culture, and really test my skills outside of my comfort zone.
Working as a Sales Manager for SiWeGO, a transportation app, has been a great opportunity. From the beginning, I was trusted with real responsibilities and felt like an important part of the team. My main tasks have involved reaching out to potential partners, presenting the service, and finding new ways to grow our network. This has helped me improve not just my sales techniques, but also my ability to build relationships and adapt my communication depending on who I’m speaking with.
Of course, not everything was perfect. After the first few weeks, I noticed that the work started to feel a bit repetitive. A lot of the daily tasks were similar, and it started to affect my motivation slightly. However, I’m glad that I felt comfortable enough to talk openly about this with my supervisors. After discussing it, we made a few changes to my role, giving me more variety in my tasks and involving me in some strategy discussions. This small adjustment made a big difference and helped me re-energize my focus.
In terms of the objectives of the program, I definitely feel they are being met. My main goal was to gain hands-on experience in an international business environment, improve my sales and negotiation skills, and better understand how technology-based services like SiWeGO operate and scale. So far, I’ve learned a lot about how startups grow their user base, how to handle objections, and how important it is to keep customers engaged. I also had the chance to attend a few networking events, which helped me expand my professional contacts.
If I had to suggest any improvements for the remainder of the exchange, I would maybe recommend adding a few workshops or training sessions focused on business development or digital marketing. These could provide extra value and help team members like me grow even faster. Besides that, I believe the environment at SiWeGO is very supportive, and the team is always open to feedback, which is great.
Overall, I’m very happy with how the first half has gone. I feel more confident, more experienced, and more motivated to continue learning and contributing in the months ahead. I’m excited to see what new challenges and opportunities the second half of my stay will bring.
