The experience continues to meet my expectations. I feel happily welcomed into the HE studio. The artist is enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge, considers me his equal, and recognizes my need to learn so many new things while expressing myself from an artistic and design perspective.
It’s wonderful to be welcomed into the artistic space of someone, because from my personal experience, is actually also a very delicate space. Together with Guillermo, we are meticulously organizing the work, adhering to the schedule, and we have a lot of work in the studio every day. The month that will be busiest in the future, however, is February, when exhibitions, fairs, conferences, and new projects await us.
As planned, during the first few months we were responsible for organizing the exhibitions, managing the artworks in Spain, and liaising with international galleries. We also dealt with more logistical things: we talked about how to set up a database, how to organize the study and how to set up the correct environmental conditions for the good maintenance of the artworks, we dealt with packaging and transfers of materials and finished works. We were able to spend a few hours training and sharing some important information, such as: how to find a gallery, how to participate in some interesting artistic residencies, how a fair is set up and how the gallery and fair sales work, how to set up the website, and how to photograph and present the artworks. Every day during work, there are often moments of exchange where we share different artistic methods and approaches.
The HE shares every aspect of the work with me so that I can learn and he can derive new stimuli and ideas from it. In November with the gallery we participated in a fair called Estampa, we set up a space for the first time, I gained experience of all the mechanisms of the fair, I met the gallery owners and shared moments with other people in the sector.
The experience is proving to be formative, active and challenging, I am very happy with the skills I am acquiring, and understanding always more about my plans for the future.
