My name is Matteo Ridolfi and I am 25 years old. I have a degree in Modern Languages and Cultures (University of Urbino), and I specialise in teaching English and Spanish. Teaching and education in general are my passions and the areas in which I intend to work.
I found out about the project through a friend who told me about his experience (he is in Portugal). I have already lived abroad and the idea of repeating the experience by being able to learn from professionals in the sector immediately interested me.
My HE is an educational NGO called “Red Deporte” that offers educational services to children in the neighbourhood (El Pilar, Madrid), with a special focus in sports activities. After the application, the director contacted me showing interest in my CV. We scheduled a cognitive video call and his proposal immediately seemed interesting to me, as well as a concrete opportunity for my professional growth.
Specifically, the activities I would be dedicated to are the management of the NGO’s sports club (kids aged 6 to 12): this consists of sports activities and extra-curricular support. In addition, I would also take care of an English course organised by the NGO. In addition to these activities, in line with my role, I would have the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of further activities with the aim of further improving the NGO.
My expectations were confirmed once the experience began. I found a stimulating and dynamic environment with young and well-prepared colleagues.
I was immediately involved in the activities, getting to know the work environment and its dynamics directly. This initial analysis was important to be able to start a precise planning of the activities that we would develop in the following months.
Finally, I also had good feedback from the city and the neighbourhood where I live and work. It is an interesting urban context where different communities live together. The basic idea of the NGO is to offer services that are accessible to people with limited possibilities, and this was another reason that convinced me to undertake this experience.
