My name is Maria and I am a geography graduate. Since I was a child I have been very curious about the world. During my studies I was especially fascinated by the language and culture of Spanish-speaking countries. At that time I started learning Spanish on my own. When I found out about the possibility of doing a university internship abroad, I decided to go to Spain. From the first day I felt at home here. Therefore, as part of my studies I went to Spain for an internship once again…. and again…. and again. I had the opportunity to experience and compare the culture of several parts of Spain.
I experienced many adventures and made many friends with whom I still keep in touch to this day. It was these experiences that made me feel a sentiment for this country that makes me love to come back here. I also think that each of my stays in Spain teaches me to grow as a person. It allows me to believe in my abilities and overcome my limitations. I think that so far it have allowed me to overcome shyness and open up to new possibilities.
I decided to participate in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program because I would like to combine my passion for Spain with my professional life in the future. I would like to open my own business and cooperate with the Spanish market. I hope that participation in the program will allow me to answer practical questions about running my own business and will dispel any doubts related to it. I think that this program will also help me to develop my interpersonal skills. I spent the first few weeks in Gran Canaria mostly getting to know my host Karolina. She is a photographer and runs her own business.
I am glad that under her guidance I will be able to learn new practical things and expand my knowledge of marketing. Karolina and I will have frequent direct contact with international clients. I will therefore have the opportunity to test my communication and language skills. In the near future we will be designing flyers and posters to advertise Karolina’s services. We have already found a company responsible for their distribution on the island in places popular among tourists. Karolina is very open and I appreciate her advice and time devoted to me.
I’m very happy to be here for the first time and have fun exploring Gran Canaria. Apart from the burnt skin, I rate my first weeks here very very good 🙂
