My name is Lilian Lindevall. I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Marketing from Stockholm University. I am a marketing professional who has transitioned into entrepreneurship.
Since moving to Munich two weeks ago, I have been incredibly busy, but it has also been an exciting and rewarding experience. The decision to move abroad was not easy, but I believe it was necessary to gain a broader international perspective and develop the mindset needed to become a founder. I was matched with my mentor through my intermediary organization because my objectives aligned well with my mentor’s expertise.
My goal is to develop the skills and competencies needed to become a successful entrepreneur while contributing my Nordic perspective on sustainability and entrepreneurship in Germany.
I recently started collaborating as an Ecosystem Growth Consultant. One of my main responsibilities is planning and managing the upcoming Conference, a two-day event for company’s members taking place in early September.
At the same time, I am working to promote business opportunities between Sweden and Germany by attending networking events, conferences, and industry gatherings. These activities allow me to connect with entrepreneurs, organizations, identify potential collaborations, and strengthen business relations between the two countries.
Since arriving in Germany, I have attended three events: one in Berlin and two in Munich. The Munich events included a co-founder matching event and the Bavarian-French Startup Festival. In Berlin, I participated in an event focused on Nordic and Berlin climate initiatives, providing valuable insights into cross-border innovation and sustainability.
Although I have only been in Germany for a short time, I can already see the strengths and opportunities offered by both Munich and Berlin. Both cities, as well as Sweden and Germany more broadly, have strong capabilities in sustainability, engineering, digitalization, and innovation, creating valuable opportunities for partnerships in research, technology development, and commercialization. As the economic center of southern Germany, Munich provides direct access to multinational companies, investors, strategic partners, and leading innovation clusters.
Berlin also plays a vital role in Germany’s startup ecosystem. As the country’s startup capital, it has developed a vibrant entrepreneurial community focused on digital innovation, fintech, health tech, climate tech, and creative industries. The city attracts founders, venture capital firms, accelerators, and international talent, making it one of Europe’s most dynamic startup hubs.
Together, Munich and Berlin complement each other. Munich is recognized for deep tech, engineering, industrial innovation, and advanced manufacturing, while Berlin is known for its startup culture, digital entrepreneurship, and international investment community. Combined, they position Germany as one of Europe’s most competitive innovation ecosystems and create significant opportunities for collaboration, investment, and technology transfer.
