My name is Itziar, I’m 24 years old, and I studied Tourism in English. From an early age, I’ve always been drawn to international environments. I went to bilingual school and high school, and I knew that I wanted my future to be shaped by opportunities abroad. I’ve always loved stepping out of my comfort zone, and every new experience has helped me grow both professionally and personally.
I started working early in public-facing roles, first in high-end retail at the Real Madrid Official Store and Brunello Cucinelli, and later transitioned into the hotel industry. I worked as a receptionist in hotels like Atocha Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Madrid, and then had my first experience living outside my hometown in a five-star resort in the Canary Islands, Dreams Lanzarote Playa Dorada. That was a turning point: I realized how much I loved adapting to new places, so I kept going.
My next adventure took me to river cruise ships across Europe, where I worked as a receptionist on six different boats, sailing through countries like Germany, France, Portugal, the Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, Belgium, and Slovakia. It was intense but extremely enriching. It taught me to be quick, adaptable, and confident with new people, cultures, and situations.
After that, I wanted to explore another side of myself. I joined an Erasmus+ project focused on English education, social media, and cultural event organization. That’s when I discovered how deeply I enjoy working on creative communication—bringing people together through ideas, emotions, and digital content. I found a connection between all my past experiences and this new passion. During that project, I met a participant who told me about the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program. I started researching it immediately, and it felt like the perfect next step. I wanted to continue my professional journey abroad and develop a clearer business path by learning from someone experienced.
This exchange is already giving me something extremely valuable: clarity and direction. It’s helping me strengthen my communication skills, learn to be more strategic, and above all, become more flexible. Living and working in new environments constantly teaches me how to adapt, how to listen, and how to accept that there’s not just one right way of doing things.
Personally, this journey is expanding my mindset and making me more open and tolerant. Professionally, it’s giving me real tools, fresh perspectives, and the confidence to shape my own project. It’s not just about learning how to build a business—it’s about understanding how to build something meaningful, connected, and human-driven. That’s the kind of entrepreneurship I want to grow into.
