My name is Hanna Olesiak, I’m 28 years old and I come from Poland. I hold a Master degree in Applied Psychology. My whole life I have done volunteer work mostly focused on support of people with disabilities and organisation of various events. I have 2 years of experience working in a Talent Acquisition team in an international corporate setting and running my own small scale non-registered, jewellery business for under a year. Since finishing my studies I had a chance to attend 5 European Solidarity Corps volunteering projects and one youth exchange. During that time I realised I would like to tie my future to the world of NGOs where I could practice the things I enjoy the most- helping others and working with likeminded people, while also managing to use my creativity on an everyday basis. I thrive in a setting where every day is different from the other and deeply care about having a community. I enjoy sailing, swimming, hiking and artistic forms of self expression.

At some point during my studies I learned about EYE through social media, at the time it was impossible for me to participate due to serious health difficulties, but when years later I found myself at crossroads career-wise I remembered about that possibility. My main goal and why I decided to participate in EYE is that I’d like to learn in a practical way and in an international setting because I consider that to be more challenging and therefore better for my personal development. I would also like to become more integrated into the international EU community.

I am hoping to gain a very practical kind of knowledge that I can, in the future, hopefully use to start my own NGO. I really care that during this project I manage to observe (preferably actually do the duties at least once if possible) all the positions and tasks that are being fulfilled in the organisation and for now it seems like I will be able to. On a personal level I am hoping that this experience will make me more confident with living abroad and help me find my standing again as a professional so I guess my goal would be to feel more brave, confident and assertive.
