Exploring Circularity with MUD Jeans

The month of February took me to Amsterdam, where I had the opportunity to immerse myself in MUD Jeans’ circular economy model thanks to the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program. There are a lot of talented people working to raise awareness that a different fashion is possible. One of those people is Bert van Son, a Dutchman with more than 30 years of experience in the world of fashion. Bert, one day, fed up with seeing the effect that the industry had on the environment and the people who work in the factories, decided to create Mud Jeans.

MUD Jeans rents out jeans, instead of selling them. A simple way to avoid the pants we don’t use ending up in a corner of the closet. In this way, when we get tired of jeans we can return them to the brand, and two things can happen:

  • Those that are in good condition are reconditioned and put up for sale in the
  • Vintage section of their website, with the name of the person to whom they belonged.
