My name is Eddy, and I recently graduated with a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology. Throughout my academic journey, I developed a strong interest in science, chemical analysis, and the application of computational approaches to drug discovery. During my Master’s thesis, I became particularly interested in molecular docking and its potential to support the early stages of pharmaceutical research by helping validate promising molecules more efficiently. I also became aware of the growing need for innovative tools that can accelerate drug development while contributing to a reduction in the use of animal testing whenever possible. This inspired me to pursue the long-term goal of creating my own start-up focused on molecular docking solutions for pharmaceutical research, combining scientific innovation with a sustainable business model.

For this reason, I decided to begin my Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs exchange in Barcelona, within an innovative medical technology start-up. I considered it the ideal environment to understand how a technology-based company is built and managed, while learning how scientific knowledge can be successfully transformed into a viable business. My objective is not only to strengthen my technical background but also to develop the entrepreneurial skills needed to bridge science and business in order to build my own company in the future.

During these first two weeks, I have started to become familiar with the daily activities of the organization. I have had the opportunity to work closely with the team, observing their projects and beginning to understand their workflow. This first direct contact has allowed me to appreciate how scientific and clinical data are managed within a business context and how innovation is translated into products and services that respond to real market needs.

I have also begun learning about the internal dynamics of the company, observing how a start-up coordinates, plans, and structures its projects. At the same time, I am starting to gain insight into the process of developing and managing an innovative company, understanding how scientific expertise, strategic planning, and business decisions are connected. Even in these first weeks, this experience is helping me understand how the scientific and entrepreneurial dimensions can complement each other, an aspect that will be fundamental for developing my own start-up in the future.

Beyond the daily activities, I have been encouraged to share my own perspectives and become an active member of the team rather than simply observing the process. This is already allowing me to develop practical skills in teamwork, project management, and business operations while observing how an innovative company balances scientific excellence with economic sustainability.

Although this is only the beginning of my Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs experience, these first weeks have already given me a clearer understanding of what it means to build and grow an innovative technology company. I look forward to continuing this learning journey, strengthening both my scientific and entrepreneurial skills, and gradually transforming the idea that originated from my Master’s thesis into a concrete future business project.
