Hi everyone, I am Andrea. I love artistic expression in all its shades. My studies and my profession switched continuously between classical music and visual arts, before finding their perfect balance, their synthesis, in the niche called violin making.
Violin making is a fantastic world made of high manual skills, creativity, and attention to the smallest detail, a world that unfolds between tradition and new technologies, in a space shaped by routine and functionality, surrounded by tools that tell stories of artisan craftsmanship, the scents of wood and varnish, a world of silence and sound.
Crossing that line to transform pieces of wood into a unique instrument, each with its own voice and character, is something that strikes a chord with me (in more ways than one!).
Why EYE? After a period of working in the field of education, I felt it was time to gain experience abroad, challenging myself in new situations and environments. Then, by chance, Francesco, a dear friend of mine, told me about the EYE program, so I decided to apply!
I am putting a lot of hope into this great opportunity, whether looking at the entrepreneurial program itself or all its secondary aspects.
Even after this first period, I can already see and feel the full potential of this exchange: it is a great opportunity to be an integral part of a high-level professional workshop and to contend with the timing, needs, and requirements necessary to maintain and develop a reality like this.
Above all, it is a great opportunity to share work aesthetics, visions, and ideas with a great professional in the field, as well as to exchange knowledge and discuss the main topics surrounding this craft.
Professional life is further enriched by the value of the city where this reality resides. Brussels is a capital with a thousand faces, offering a vibrant cultural scene and rich social opportunities.
My experience only started a few weeks ago, but I can already feel its power, both from a professional standpoint and in terms of cultural opportunities and human connections.
