My name is Mirco Munaro, and I am from Italy. My professional background is mainly in the mechanical industry, where I worked for many years in different companies. Over time, however, I realised that my greatest strengths lie in working with people, adapting to new situations, and learning through hands-on experience.
I have always been passionate about tourism, photography, and travelling. I enjoy discovering new places, experiencing different cultures, and meeting people from different backgrounds. I speak Italian, English, and Spanish, and I have always believed that languages are an important tool for building relationships with people from all over the world. These interests inspired me to develop a business idea in the hospitality sector, offering co-hosting and property management services for short-term rental properties in the Veneto region. My goal is to create a business that provides high-quality services to property owners while ensuring guests enjoy a comfortable and memorable stay.
I decided to participate in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs programme after hearing about it from a friend who had taken part and spoke very positively about the experience. I saw it as the ideal opportunity to learn directly from an experienced entrepreneur, understand the daily challenges of running a hospitality business, and gain practical knowledge before launching my own company.
During my stay in Las Palmas, Diego shared not only his professional expertise but also his daily experience as a host. He actively involved me in the management of the apartments, guest communication, and the organisation of the business. I had the opportunity to observe and participate in different aspects of the work, including preparing apartments for new guests, assisting with check-ins and check-outs, communicating with guests before and during their stay, and understanding how reservations, maintenance, and daily operations are managed efficiently. This practical experience allowed me to better understand how important organisation, flexibility, and attention to detail are in the hospitality industry.
Beyond the professional side, Diego also helped me integrate into the local community by introducing me to local activities, sports such as beach tennis, and many people from different backgrounds. This made the experience much more meaningful, allowing me to improve not only my professional skills but also my communication skills, language abilities, and cultural awareness. Living in another country gave me the opportunity to adapt to a different environment, become more independent, and develop greater confidence in dealing with new situations and people.
I believe this exchange has had a significant impact on both my professional and personal development. Professionally, I strengthened my knowledge of the hospitality industry, learned how to organise and manage short-term rental properties, and gained practical experience that will be invaluable when I start my own business. Personally, I became more confident, open-minded, and motivated to pursue my entrepreneurial goals. I also built valuable relationships that I hope to maintain in the future, both on a personal and professional level.
I return to Italy with a much clearer vision of my future, stronger motivation, and a solid foundation of practical knowledge. I am grateful for this opportunity because it has confirmed my desire to build my own business in the hospitality sector and has given me the confidence to take the next steps towards achieving this goal.
