My name is Ignacy Żak, and I am a sound designer and post-production specialist for film. I studied sound engineering, and my passions revolve around cinematic sound, music, and the art of storytelling through audio. I am deeply fascinated by films and the way every sound – whether dialogue, ambient noise, or music – can influence the emotions and immersion of the audience. Beyond my professional interests, I love traveling and discovering new cultures, as I strongly believe that experiencing different environments is incredibly enriching for personal growth. I also value building new connections and meeting people with diverse backgrounds, because these interactions always open new perspectives and inspire creative ideas. Travel, combined with my passion for film and sound, fuels my curiosity and motivates me to constantly improve my skills.

Why I decided to participate in EYE

I decided to participate in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program out of curiosity and the desire to gain international experience. I wanted to understand how a professional sound studio operates in a different cultural context and learn not only the technical aspects of film post-production but also the business side of running a studio. This includes understanding workflows, client relations, project management, and the organizational skills required to manage both creative and commercial aspects of a small company. I was also eager to collaborate with experienced professionals in Spain, work on real projects, and see how they approach sound design, mixing, and post-production in their own creative environment. The chance to combine professional growth with cultural immersion and networking opportunities made this program an ideal choice for me.

How this experience contributes to my growth

After a month at La Palma 52, I can already see how much this experience contributes to my professional and personal development. Working on Spanish films has given me the opportunity to engage with multiple layers of sound, including ambiences, dialogue editing, sound effects, foleys, and final mixing. Each project challenges me to think creatively, adapt to different workflows, and find the right balance between artistic expression and technical precision. On a personal level, living and working abroad has strengthened my confidence, adaptability, and ability to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds. I am learning to manage my time more effectively, communicate clearly, and contribute to a team in a meaningful way. This experience not only enhances my skills as a sound designer but also provides invaluable insights into running a creative business, understanding client expectations, and developing a professional mindset. I feel inspired, motivated, and much more prepared to continue growing both as a person and as a professional in the film industry.
