My name is Edoardo, and I recently graduated in Architecture in Rome, Italy. I have developed a strong interest in how architecture firms manage their projects, from client relations to communication and administration. I am motivated by the idea of founding my own architectural practice in the future, geared towards an innovative and sustainable approach that considers the challenges of climate change and transforms them into opportunities through conscious choices in the fields of sustainable architecture and green building—areas I wish to explore and experience firsthand.
I discovered the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) programme while searching online for international mobility opportunities in Europe. It immediately caught my attention because it combines entrepreneurial learning with cultural exchange. I decided to apply because I wanted to return to Germany, where, thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, I had already had a very positive experience during my university years, spending six months at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. That experience made me feel connected to the country, both personally and professionally, and motivated me to return to deepen my understanding of how architecture and design are approached here, with the goal of getting a closer look at new eco-sustainable technologies applicable in these fields.
Through this experience, I hope to gain a deeper insight into the management, administration, and client relations aspects within an architectural firm. I am currently collaborating with Stefanie, my host entrepreneur, at her studio in Berlin. During the first two weeks, I have already participated in a business dinner with one of her clients to discuss a new project, where I was able to observe how she presents ideas for a new project and how she manages relationships and builds trust. Furthermore, I had the opportunity to accompany her to a construction site to better understand the process that connects the design phase to the implementation phase. These experiences have allowed me to witness firsthand her mentoring approach and the dynamics of architectural communication in a real professional context.
I also consider this experience a valuable opportunity for personal growth. Working and living in Germany again allows me to immerse myself in the language, culture, and daily life, while developing autonomy and adaptability in an international environment. I believe this experience will not only help me lay the groundwork for my future professional practice but also help me become a more open-minded, aware, and environmentally conscious architect, capable of collaborating in multicultural contexts and contributing significantly to the European architectural community.
