Giulia, who runs an agroturismo in Nardo, Italy, reached out to me via email. She saw my profile on the Erasmus site and decided to write to me. We made an appointment to talk and ended up having a phone conversation that lasted for an hour. During our conversation, we discovered that we have a lot in common: the same age, the same zodiac sign ;), a shared holistic approach to human health, and we both took a leap of faith to start our own businesses. At the end of the phone call, we both agreed to pursue an Erasmus exchange. We matched, completed all the paperwork, and I went to Italy.
I have learned a lot from Giulia so far. It’s impressive how she is able to juggle all her duties. Long before my arrival, we had planned to exchange Lomi Lomi massages (I am a Lomi therapist and teacher) and acupuncture sessions (Giulia has studied Chinese Medicine in NY). We both enjoyed it so much and felt the health benefits that we decided to make it a regular practice. One evening, over dinner, we began discussing the idea of hosting a retreat for women. This retreat will involve a circle of women, focusing on letting go of past trauma, and will include bodywork such as Lomi Lomi massages and intuitive dance. We are planning to do this next year. So this adventure, which is about to end, will hopefully continue. I am looking forward to this happening.
