EYE: Another step!
Hello everyone, I’m Andrea, I’m 35 years old. In 2008 I obtained the qualification in car design at IED Turin and I have been involved in nautical design for about twelve years with a lot of enthusiasm, gaining experience in luxury yachting. Some friends have suggested, directed and guided me to join the EYE programme and in these six months of scheduled exchange, I will try to carry out a project that has been in my mind for several years. Finally, after many past sacrifices, I will have the opportunity to develop it and look into the panorama of pleasure boating. I never imagined I could do it right in Lamezia Terme, in this country that has a great desire for progress and in which I arrived on 08/01/2021.
Until now I have always worked in the nautical sector but without ever having had the opportunity to work on a product that comes from my ideas; I always had to follow the directions of the boss… In this program I was able to find a valid partner, with whom we concluded the first two weeks of exchange on Friday 22nd, so we got to know each other better by eating some sweets filled with ricotta, sipping coffee, with our eyes turned to the monitor to draw up the briefing… Every now and then I was distracted by the noise of the yard, so I looked up at the production area, where I had the opportunity to scrutinize many boats of various types and learn some of the construction techniques and the implementation of the products; experience that you get by looking and touching with your hand… in a design studio it doesn’t happen very often!
In this period, we have done research on how to identify and categorize the idea that I would like to develop and how to position it on the market, through analysing real competitors, products already on sale and prototypes under development. On this basis, we have generated a hypothetical product which we are developing in embryo so that it can be catalogued, and we can proceed with the second phase of the programme. A work carried out with harmony and great simplicity in this family-run company where I am sure that this opportunity will be fundamental for my career path… hoping to give this new challenge my best shot.
For the rest what to say?… Calabria is wonderful, you can taste excellent food and see breathtaking landscapes, here in the Gulf of Sant’Eufemia overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, you can admire dream sunsets as well as having the opportunity to go to the sea or to the mountain in about 30 minutes, not to mention the natural thermal baths.
